Barracuda Web Filter ?s

I have the Barracuda Web Filter 410, I have a group of servers on which I want to block all internet traffic unless one particular user is logged in.

Apparently, at one of my sites we have a generic login to a server and a night shift operator is abusing this login to visit restricted web sites.

We have yet to prove who it is and for the time being just want to lock the servers down from everything but Windows update URLs so that my tech there can run updates when needed under her login only.

Any Barracuda experts out there who want to chime in?

Barracuda CVE-2015-0235 Vulnerability

Did anyone else get notified that their Barracuda appliances were 'patched' over the weekend for the CVE-2015-0235 Vulnerability (glibc)? Both my Spam and Virus Firewall and Webfilter were patched and required reboots to apply the 'fix'. Was a little concerned that this might be some sort of spoof, but after a bit of research, I found that it was legit.

We recently added a Barracuda Spam Filter 300.  I was wondering if it would be good practice or not to add the IP addresses of the Top Spam Senders to the IP filter of the Barracuda or Firewall?

Question about Barracuda (Spam Firewall)

Several users are trying to send email to addresses at lmco.com and the messages are just sitting there saying deferred.

Last successful email sent to them Feb 11th I'm tried two address and getting the same results.  I thought maybe we were blacklisted by checks come up clean

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

CudaTel TAPI options

We have a software that we're looking to tie into the CudaTel.

We know that it is based on Freeswitch which has some API support. Specifically we're looking to use ESL that requires enabling mod_event_socket connections.

So far I have no idea how to implement that on the CudaTel. I have no SSH console access and Barracuda support won't play ball with me. ( I partially understand why since they don't want to risk introducing an untested feature to a supported product.)

I've pondered building a Linux box to host an instance of Freeswitch just for the sake of getting to mod_event_socket. I could then tie the two systems together with SIP provider paths.

However...

I need inbound caller id records to trigger actions

I need outbound "click to call"

Not sure how I could get that to work in two way fashion using the CudaTel and a tethered...

Barracuda Spam & Virus firewall

Hi

I am just about to replace my existing mail gateway (MailMarshal) with a Barracuda firewall. Reading through the set up guide it all seems easy enough. I'm ready to change the smarthost settings on the exchabge server and update the MX records. Has anyone else installed this piece of kit? any tips or pointers? Any problems that you have found?

I am able to access the Internet and cannot access the web interface via 10.10.22.x :8000.

1. Incline configuration

2. Barracuda 310 . 10.10.22.x

3. Core Switch . 10.10.22.x

4.Sonicwall. 192.168.168.168

Firewall LAN-> Barracuda WAN

Barracuda LAN-> Switch

Barracuda Web Filter 410 Crashes

I saw a post back from 2013 here and wonder if anyone has gotten a fix from Barracuda.  My filter seems to (at random times) drop all internet bound traffic.  After about 5 minutes everything resets and is running smooth again.  This behavior ONLY happens when HTTPS filtering is turned on and the Filter is "Active".  I have been back and forth with Support (for 4 months now), who has escalated it to engineering, then escalated to the development team, and is not being researched by their hardware folks to check the NICs.  Meanwhile, I have to explain the repeated drops, while maintaining a support tunnel so that support can troubleshoot.  Any help appreciated

I need help routing the mail from our external site's exchange server to pass through the Spam Firewall before going to the main exchange server on site. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Barracuda web filter is blocking internet if gotomeeting is installed.

We have a user that uses the GoToMeeting host client to schedule meetings. About a month ago she started loosing her internet connection. The only way we have been able to resolve the issue is by adding an IP exemption for her computer in our 310 web filter.

I have tried adding exceptions for all of the url's listed in Citrix's Optimal Firewall Configuration documentation, but her connection will still drop at random if GoToMeeting is installed. 

Any thoughts or recommendations would be appreciated.

Email evading my Barracuda

For the past few months, we have been receiving email that should have been blocked by our Barracuda Spam Firewall. One of my users launched a .zip file payload exposing him to ransomware. Fortunately (for us, not him) he did this at home - and had a recent backup. We wound up nuking his box (they were demanding 1 bc), but it should not have happened in the first place as I block all .zip file attachments in the Barracuda.

All email goes (via our mx record) to the barracuda, then to our email server. Or at least that is how it is supposed to work. It appears that email is able to bypass our mx record (ergo the barracuda) and go directly to our server (a Softlayer hosted centos 6 server running apache and exim with cpanel).

How can I stop this?

My Mx record points to the barracuda (which is hosted in-house on a static ip) with a priority...

Anybody know how to add in a .HU address to the Barracuda whitelist.  Here is the error I am getting on the barracuda filter

Error: There were problems with one or more entries.

 Illegal value (@domain.hu ) for New Email Address/Domain : must be a top-level domain like 'edu' or domain like 'yourdomain.com' or email address like 'you@yourdomain.com'.

Using second nic for a shared folder?

Hello, I recently built a server for recording my ip cams. Im currently using the onboard network interface. The cams and server are on a seperate vlan from the rest of my network.

Next im getting ready to setup my whole house audio using volumio running on a few raspberry pi's. I want to use the server to store all the music. I would like to install a second nic and use that to access a shared folder and keep all my audio and second nic on a separate vlan from the rest of the network. Im using windows 7 as well. Not sure what the best way to approach this is. Thx for any help.

Error communicating with BCC

I just got a new x200 Barracuda Firewall to replace my 9 year old Watchguard firewall.  I'm starting to regret trying the Barracuda products.  Luckily its still in the 30 day trial. If I can't get if up and running properly in another week it's going back.

Any way, My questions for anyone that has worked on the Barracuda Firewalls is. I am getting an error every time I try to connect to the Barracuda Cloud Control account I setup.  I had it working once before, but I had to reset the firewall back to factory default after it became non-responsive.  I can log into the Barracuda cloud control web portal using the same user credentials that I am putting into the Firewall.

I still have the allow all traffic firewall policy active, so it should not be blocking anything.

Anyone have any Ideas?

Hello,

I've seen a number of posts praising the CudaTel phone system by Barracuda Networks here on Spiceworks.  

CudaTel is at the top of our short list and we are in need of a couple of reference calls to be made.  Anyone who uses CudaTel and would be willing to take a 10 minute call regarding your experience with the device would be greatly appreciated!

I had a local VAR help me setup my Barracuda mail spam filter and it looks like there is one in there blocking from biz.rr.com anybody know why that would be a bad sender?

Scheduled tasks/reboot on Barracuda spam firewall

Is this possible?

I have a BSF200a and I don't see a setting for scheduled tasks anywhere.

Also, does the Barracuda take cmd commands? I'm thinking I could just make a bat file to reboot the thing and make it a scheduled task in Windows if the device itself doesn't have this scheduling feature.
