Barracuda 450 Message Archiver - SSL error with Outlook search client

We have a 450 mail archiver. We have been using it for 4 years using a self signed SSL. This has to be renewed every year, but the process is very simple. We save the settings on the device, download the SSL and distribute with a GPO. Usually takes all of five minutes. This year when we generated the new SSL, the Outlook client will not trust it and our users are being prompted to ignore (which Barracuda techs claim means accept) the error and continue. Barracuda support is now telling us that a self signed SSL is not supported and never has been. The fact that they set it up that way when it was installed and we have been using it that way for the past 4 years is irrelevant.
